The Temp Experience

Life as a temp was tempting to me
Attempt the fast lane, attempt to be free
So I packed in my job, put on my best suit
To temp at top rates, to roll in the loot
Form filling, speed tests, the first of the hurdles
I loathe and detest this, blood boils and it curdles
The agency's promise of work guaranteed
Was a lie to lure me, my services bleed
If luck's in today, with timesheet in hand
I'll march on my way to join a new band
To try to fit in with a job undefined
T'was not what I wanted, I had not in mind
To skivvy, dogsbody and make cups of tea
Until they decided to get rid of me
Eight 'O's and two 'A's, WP and shorthand
Did not prepare me for this work poor and bland
So back on the street I trudge tired and footsore
Faced with defeat at each agency door
Used and abused, just a pawn in the game
Enlightened, now used to realities shame
The previous glow of this freelance thing
No more does show, no luck does bring
So agency for temps, erase me from your file
I am now 'going permanent'   . . .   just for a while

The Pioneer

The circle is breaking
It's making a pattern
The pattern is changing
A strange thing to see

I see him evolving
No longer revolving
Upholding his home
Now the black sheep is free

A throwback, a rogue
And his lines aren't defined
He's elusive, intriguing
In light shades and dark

A stranger, a friend
Now he's shifting position
New patterns are forming
He's leaving his mark

Dirge

I close my ears to listen
And I close my eyes to see
The secrets of the glistening water
Whispered by the sea

The elements are strong in me
I'll rise above the wind
The fleeting moment gone, sadly
A glimpse cannot be pinned

I saw you in a dream
And you became real to my days
You died, became a dream again
We went our seperate ways

Distracted by another form
New dream to be fulfilled
You shed our love, it's coat was worn
I paused for breath, was cold and stilled

Distracted now by sun so strong
Attract it's light in me
Aborb each ray to last life long
And cast the shadows   . . .   from the sea
